Dear Lydia,

I am writing to say thank you (as well as my wife) for such an enjoyable time attending your prenatal classes. Being in the profession, I know how difficult this job can be and you make it look so easy. For all those mothers-to-be, it always seems there is so little time to learn. You have done a great job to make it all simple but informative.

I would like to commend you on making such an organized series of prenatal classes. They are very comprehensive and included every aspect of what pregnant women should know, right from the time she becomes pregnant to after her baby is born. The sessions were easy to follow. There are several areas that are particularly well taught of. Firstly, on the relaxation techniques, you have given them so many ways of preparing themselves to guard against the labour pain, I thought you may be able to skip the part on the analgesia. Secondly, on breastfeeding, no one should even dare to think of missing this part, as one will not get anyone to teach better than you. Thirdly, the presentation is superb. The use of slides to demonstrate makes explanation easy to understand, as one knows “ a picture is worth a thousand words”. Fourthly, the use of handouts at the beginning of the sessions also helps people to concentrate during the sessions and as a reminder for the future. The handouts are also precise so one is not left with any waste paper afterwards. Fifthly, there were a lot of practical tips and FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) during the sessions that were discussed and answered. This is the part that shows especially how experienced and knowledgeable you are and how much thought you have put into the sessions to help these new mothers-to-be, and they are good tips. Last but not least, you were able to put the Chinese cutoms and beliefs into scientific reasoning so the mothers-to-be can still follow the traditions in the new modern way of living.

I would like to take this opportunity to say how good a teacher you are as well. The sessions were lively and time flies by. You also help the mothers-to-be with so many accessories that are invaluable, things that they don’t realize they need until the last minute. It is so good to see a well-prepared mother-to-be: this is the first step in achieving a successful motherhood. It is also very comforting to know that you also provide a back up support in case of problems. This is very important, as this will give the mother-to-be a feeling of security that they are not alone.

Keep up the good work and I am sure a lot more mothers-to-be will appreciate your work! (Can I come for a refresher course with my next child?)

Take care!

Yours truly,
